“Please… Don’t Go!”- Karla Lee’s Life Story. (For Parents, Teenagers, Stepparents & Grandparents)

I wrote this book to give some insight into the struggles that I faced in my life after my parents’ divorce. I was 9yrs old. I share with you the pain and confusion I felt at the initial time they told us of the break-up. I will show you how the feeling of isolation and loneliness affected my childhood as all the security and comfort I had became nothing in just a moment. My mother was no longer going to be around, and as a little girl that meant far more than I could have realised at the time. My Dad was hardly around either due to his public life and I felt so rejected that I ended up seeking even more rejection; it was all I knew. I became rebellious, seeking love and attention in all the wrong places. This led me to an emotional and verbally abusive relationship, drugs and a down hill road. Finally, after much pain and heartache I chose to make positive choices in my life.

I found true love, and it was unconditional. I had peace back in my life, and a true understanding of why I am here. I have now been married for over 5yrs with 2 children, and I have chosen to not believe that I would be another statistic of Divorce.

Is it My Fault?” The Companion Children’s Book (For Primary Aged Children)

This book consists of four separate illustrated stories.

Each full-color illustrated story is written for children from four to twelve years of age and deals with various problems that children may face when their parents go through a divorce.

I have combined them all together in one book and personally illustrated them myself.

I didn’t think that writing a book just about my life experiences was enough; I knew that parent’s needed something to help their children now. These books are written in a way that they will connect with the children’s feeling, and hopefully help them express what is going on inside of them.

1. Daddy, Please Don’t Go! Is written for a child whose Father has left the family to live in another location.

2. Mummy, Please Don’t Go! Is written for a child whose Mother has left the family to live in another location.

3. He’s My Friend, Not My Daddy Is written for a child whose mother has or may remarry.

4. She’s My Friend, Not My Mummy Is written for a child whose father has or may remarry.

About the Counselling/Role-Playing Puppet Dolls:

I have designed four hand puppets that you can use to help your child resolve the divorce issues that are affecting him or her. Four puppet dolls are currently available: Mummy, Daddy, Faith and Peter. Each of the character dolls are soft and cuddly and can be machine or hand washed. These characters have been taken from the children’s book, “Is it My Fault?”

Many children find it hard to express their feelings, and like in counselling rooms the children may find it easier through role-playing with their parents at home.

These are also very useful for specialists who counsel families through divorce situations.

Karla Lee On-Line:

There are on-line resources I have at www.karlalee.com to help children and parents deal with the problems they will face as their children go through a divorce or separation.

The books and dolls are available online also. Books are available at most Dymocks stores. Otherwise book stores will order them in.
